Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of NameBid and any domain listing, auction, offer or transfer arranged through the marketplace. By using NameBid or submitting information, you agree to these terms.

1. About NameBid

NameBid is an independently operated UK domain-auction marketplace. Business correspondence: 16 Lord Street, Halifax, HX1 5AE, United Kingdom. NameBid currently accepts .co.uk, .org.uk and .uk listings. NameBid lists domains from its own portfolio as well as domains submitted by independent third-party sellers. The seller type is identified on each auction page. NameBid provides listing, verification and transaction-support services for third-party listings and is not affiliated with Nominet.

2. Launch status

Domains clearly marked as live are open for bid submissions under the displayed auction rules. Every submitted bid remains pending until NameBid verifies the bidder’s contact details. Only verified amounts are included in the public highest bid and bid count. An unverified bid is not eligible to win.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a binding contract. We may ask sellers and bidders for identity, contact or ownership evidence before approving a listing, bid or transfer.

Each live auction states its opening price, minimum bid increment, reserve status and closing time. Reserve amounts may be confidential. A domain is sold only when the highest verified bid meets or exceeds its reserve. Bidders must verify their email before the deadline. Only verified bids are eligible to win. A verified winning bid is a commitment to purchase, subject to fraud, identity, payment and transfer checks.

ReserveBridge™

If an eligible auction closes below its hidden reserve, NameBid may invite the seller and highest verified bidder to enter one confidential figure each. Neither party is shown the other party’s figure or the hidden reserve. If the figures overlap, NameBid may propose a price within that overlap. ReserveBridge is a non-binding price-discovery process: no sale is agreed unless both parties separately confirm the proposed transaction. Invitations are personal, time-limited and must not be shared.

Listings marked DemandStart™ collect verified buyer interest before their timed auction begins. The seven-day countdown starts after either one opening bid is email-verified or three interested buyers verify their email addresses. Registering interest is not a bid or a commitment to purchase. Existing timed auctions are not converted to DemandStart unless clearly stated.

NameBid Wanted™ lets email-verified buyers publish non-binding domain requirements, budgets and deadlines. Seller responses are private and do not create an auction, sale or obligation. Buyers and sellers must check each domain, price, rights and counterparty before agreeing a transaction. NameBid may remove misleading requests or responses and does not guarantee that a request will receive a match.

6. Zero-commission pricing

NameBid currently charges no listing fee, seller commission or buyer premium. Third-party costs—including registrar, payment-provider, escrow or Nominet charges—may still apply and remain the responsibility of the relevant party. We will disclose any future NameBid fee before it applies to a transaction.

7. Payment and transfer

After an auction closes, the verified winning bidder receives a pro-forma invoice. The buyer and seller then agree whether payment will be made directly by PayPal or bank transfer. For higher-value sales, they may instead choose to arrange settlement directly through Escrow.com. Any escrow or payment-provider fee is paid as agreed between the parties. NameBid is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting as an agent of Escrow.com. The parties are responsible for opening the transaction and reviewing the provider’s current terms, eligibility requirements and fees. Do not send money until the settlement method and destination details have been confirmed by email. Ownership normally changes through the relevant registrar and Nominet process after cleared payment. The seller provides the final paid invoice or receipt.

8. Reviews, rejection and cancellation

We may reject, pause or remove a listing, bid or user where we reasonably suspect fraud, unlawful activity, inaccurate information, manipulation, non-payment, infringement or risk to users. We may correct obvious technical or pricing errors and cancel an affected auction where fairness requires it. Unsold timed auctions are not automatically or immediately relisted; they may move to DemandStart or an archive before any future auction is approved.

9. Intellectual property

You retain rights in content you submit, but give NameBid permission to display and process it for operating and promoting the listing. You must have permission to provide that content. NameBid branding, design and original site content may not be copied without permission.

10. Availability and liability

We aim to keep the service available and accurate but cannot promise uninterrupted operation or that any domain will sell. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, NameBid is not responsible for indirect loss, lost profit, failed negotiations, registrar delays or conduct outside our reasonable control.

11. Consumer rights

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under applicable UK consumer law. Whether consumer cancellation rights apply may depend on the parties, the transaction and when a digital service or transfer begins.

12. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms for legal, security or operational reasons. Material changes will apply prospectively. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
