Terms and Conditions

These terms govern your use of NameBid and any domain listing, auction, offer or transfer arranged through the marketplace. By using NameBid or submitting information, you agree to these terms.

1. About NameBid

NameBid is an independent marketplace for UK domain names, currently accepting .co.uk, .org.uk and .uk listings. We provide listing, verification and transaction-support tools. Unless a listing expressly says otherwise, NameBid does not own the domains offered by sellers and is not affiliated with Nominet.

2. Launch status

Domains clearly marked as live are open for bid submissions under the displayed auction rules. Every submitted bid remains pending until NameBid verifies the bidder’s contact details. Displaying a submitted amount does not mean that bid has been verified or accepted.

3. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter a binding contract. We may ask sellers and bidders for identity, contact or ownership evidence before approving a listing, bid or transfer.

4. Seller obligations

• You must own or control every submitted domain and have authority to transfer it.
• Listing information, reserve prices and material facts must be accurate.
• You must disclose disputes, restrictions or third-party claims affecting the domain.
• You must not list unlawful, misleading or rights-infringing domains.
• You must cooperate promptly with verification, payment and transfer steps.

5. Bidding and auctions

Each live auction states its opening price, minimum bid increment, verification status and closing time. Bidders must verify their email before the deadline. Only verified bids are eligible to win. A verified winning bid is a commitment to purchase, subject to fraud, identity, payment and transfer checks.

6. Zero-commission pricing

NameBid currently charges no listing fee, seller commission or buyer premium. Third-party costs—including registrar, payment-provider, escrow or Nominet charges—may still apply and remain the responsibility of the relevant party. We will disclose any future NameBid fee before it applies to a transaction.

7. Payment and transfer

After an auction closes, the verified winning bidder receives a pro-forma invoice. The buyer and seller then agree whether payment will be made by PayPal or bank transfer. Do not send money until the seller confirms the destination details by email. Ownership normally changes through the relevant registrar and Nominet process after cleared payment. The seller provides the final paid invoice or receipt.

8. Reviews, rejection and cancellation

We may reject, pause or remove a listing, bid or user where we reasonably suspect fraud, unlawful activity, inaccurate information, manipulation, non-payment, infringement or risk to users. We may correct obvious technical or pricing errors and cancel an affected auction where fairness requires it.

9. Intellectual property

You retain rights in content you submit, but give NameBid permission to display and process it for operating and promoting the listing. You must have permission to provide that content. NameBid branding, design and original site content may not be copied without permission.

10. Availability and liability

We aim to keep the service available and accurate but cannot promise uninterrupted operation or that any domain will sell. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, NameBid is not responsible for indirect loss, lost profit, failed negotiations, registrar delays or conduct outside our reasonable control.

11. Consumer rights

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under applicable UK consumer law. Whether consumer cancellation rights apply may depend on the parties, the transaction and when a digital service or transfer begins.

12. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms for legal, security or operational reasons. Material changes will apply prospectively. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
